Oops, Wrong Airport...

"Pelican Hills Resort please." She said it casually like I hear it everyday. Only problem was, I had never heard of it.

I asked if she had an address or the name of the hotel.

"They said it was only 10 to 15 minutes from the airport so I thought you would know it. Let's see, I don't know if this is going to help, it's Pelican Hill Rd. South. Does that ring a bell?"

It didn't, so I punched it into the GPS. "It doesn't show anything local. Do you have the city or zip code?"

"Let's see, all I have is the city, it's Newport Coast, CA." Now that explains everything it not local. I punch in the city and street information into the GPS and find its forty eight (48) miles away.

I ask, "Did they happen to say which airport it was only fifteen from? Well, from LAX to Pelican Hills is about an hour!"

"What do you mean an hour?" After several phone calls it was confirmed, she was in for an hour long cab ride.

She tried to switch her return flight to John Wayne Airport (15 minutes away) but United Airlines would not accommodate her.

She said, "I guess everything is fifteen minutes from somewhere. Next time I'll know to ask, which airport is somewhere?"
